How and organism goes extinct if it cannot adapt
If an organism cannot adapt to its environment it will die and if its species cant adapt, then its goes extinct. If a frog is trying to hide from a predator and doesn't blend in, the predator is going to eat that frog first. if a fish isn't adapted to living in cold water and it gets put in Antartica, it will die and make that species go extinct, but, if it is adapted it can survive and carry on its traits to its offspring so it can survive.if the environment changes, like if it starts becoming warmer on an island, then the birds have to adapt to live in a warmer environment or they will become extinct.
Symbiotic Relationships
The three symbiotic relationships are parasitism, commensalism, and mutualism. Parasitism is when one organism will benefit from the other, and the other does not benefit and is harmed. For example when a human builds a new house, the humans benefit and get a new place to live. Then the animals that used to live there are harmed and no longer have that land. Commensalism is when one organism benefits and the other is not affected. When small fish swim around the big shark, the small fish receive protection and the shark does not receive anything. Mutualism is when both organism that are involved benefit. That way both are helped and they both gain something. For example when a bee pollinates a flower, the flower can reproduce and the bee has pollen. These all go on all around the world and that is why everything is why it is.

Extinction is
mostly caused by the lack of adaptation to an environment. Lets say that you
are a deer, you lived in a nice grass filled area but then you wondered off to
far from home and you end up in a place where there is no water or grass. What
do you do? You look for for a sign of water or food. Looking for the food you
get tried and your low on energy. You don’t come across anything and soon
enough you end up dying form not adapting to the area you come across. If
another deer does the same thing you did then that deer would also end up dying
form not adapting. Organisms that cannot survive by adapting to other areas are
most likely to become extinct. 10 animals have become extinct in the past 100
year already. Pyrenean ibex, Baiji, Zanaibar leopard, Jamaican Giant Galliwasp,
Cuban Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, Gunam flying fox, Bali Tiger, Tasmanian Tiger,
Newfoundland wolf, And California Gizzly Bear. Animals that cannot survive
adaption they soon will become extinct. Adaption is very important because if
you do not adapt to an area then you’ll soon enough die.

There are a total of three symbiotic relationships. They are parasitism, commensalism, and mutualism. Parasitism is when one organism benefits and the other is harmed. An example would be fleas on a dog. Another example would be a tick on a human. Commensalism is when one organism benefits while the other is not affected. An example would be a bird on a cow's back eating all the bugs. One other example is fish feeding off a whale. The last symbiotic relationship is mutualism. Mutualism is when both organisms benefit. A example of mutualism is a bacteria in a human. The human can not digest all of the food it eats. The bacteria gets food, while the human is able to digest the food.
There Can Be Both
Natural disaster, man-made disaster, what other disasters will there be? Yes all disasters- natural and manmade- are tragic, but there is positive results with the known negative ones.
Natural Disasters-
To begin, natural disasters the way the earth puts everything back into its place. We try to control the earth and her nature but she will always manage to find ways to surprise us and to take her resources back.
One of the natural disasters that us Nebraskan’s are more familiar with is the mighty tornado. The tornado is a violently rotating column of air that forms a funnel shape from severe thunderstorms. They make contact with the ground and once they do watch out!
After striking the ground they can destroy anything in their path. They can throw debris up to 100 mph. Most have wind speeds of 110 mph the really severe ones have winds that reach 300 mph. Remember that at 75 mph singles are striped clean from roofs and siding starts to come off. The normal distance across is 250 ft but the really severe ones reach to about 2 miles across or more.
We have all seen the TV reports about the carnage that a tornado leaves after it hits. It is tragic truly. You may think how in the world does anything good come from all the destruction? Good does come though. The violent winds have shifted dirt and the nutrients found in the dirt from one place to another. New nutrients will be something to want after the ground gets chopped up. The ground gets cleared naturally, yes it does require us humans to pick up the mess, but it’s faster then doing it by hand. Ecosystems do get badly banged up, but all of the critters that didn’t die during the storm will find themselves a new habitat. It maybe easier to find a new habitat in the wake of the storm because the storm had destroyed some many things and so then it makes more little hide outs to live in. Birds and small and animals especially take advantage of the small crevasses. The storm still does affect the ecosystem in many negative ways too. Such as habitat is lost, resources become scattered, and well the populations become scattered too.
Man-made Disasters-
As we all know now is that human kind has had its own run with disasters. One that we all know about and hope that will not happen in the near future but probably will is the nuclear disaster. The word “nuclear” is nerve-racking because there is so much uncertainty that comes along with the whole subject. The whole point of nuclear energy is to generate energy at high rates for the world’s use. As a planet we use tons of energy everyday. Keeping up with the demand is the key, so the world keeps coming up with other alternatives to the solve the world’s energy crisis. Some of the alternatives we come up with though do more damage then they help.
If a nuclear disaster were to happen many things will become destroyed. One thing is ecosystems. Water will become polluted with nuclear waste because the turbines need something to keep them cool. The air will become polluted do to the fallout. Land around the reactors will die do to the waste, and will probably not grow back for decades. Every living thing will probably die except for that one cockroach. The whole area will be radioactive, nothing will be able to live. Creatures living miles upon miles away will feel the affect of this disaster. Evolution will take place and the creatures will have to be able to adapt to the rough conditions. Plants might change do to the pollution so then the animals have to be able to eat the plants or else they won’t survive. Everything will have to be able to stand the amount of radiation being emitted.
There doesn’t have to be a nuclear disaster to be able to see how man-made disasters attribute to ecosystem lost. The dust bowl in the 1930’s is a great example. We overwhelmed the soil then with no plants no rain fell causing a horrid drought. With the drought rough winds that the Mid-west was used to picked up all of the dried dirt and dust then threw it about. Many organisms had to seek new habitats because they just couldn’t survive the sandblasting. Grasshoppers didn’t have the grass to eat so they ate people’s clothes or anything else they could find. The one positive thing that came out of the whole dust bowl is that we realized that we have to treat the land differently then we had. Our land couldn’t withstand the European farming methods that were used so we had to adapt.
To conclude, natural and man-made disasters do effect ecosystems in positive and negative ways.
Anatomical Features
Anatomical features are the bodily structure of a living thing. Examples of an anatomical feature is eyes, nose, mouth, hair, etc. Scientists use these features to determine if evolution has occurred. Evolution is the change in these inherited characteristics over time. The scientist can use these features to tell if evolution has occurred because if the anatomical feature of an animal change over time that means that evolution has occurred. For example if a dogs anatomical features have changed it means that evolution has occurred. They can tell that it has occurred because animals anatomical features change when they have to adapt to their environment when something changes like the climate, a flood, or a drought. Like when a flood occurs the animals on land have to adapt to living in the water, which is when evolution occurs and if they don't adapt then that species will become extinct. Always if the animals that lived in the desert needed a lot of water to live they would have to adapt to the environment because the dessert doesn't have a lot of water.

A symbiotic
relationship is a close relationship between organisms. Symbiotic relationships
include; Parasitism, Commensalism, and Mutualism. Parasitism is when one
organism benefits from the other and the other organism is harmed. For example;
when a tapeworm attaches itself to the insides of animals and they get food by
eating the host’s partly digested food which deprives the host from nutrients.
Commensalism is when one organism benefits and the other isn’t affected. An
example of commensalism is like when a bird cleans bugs off a buffalo.
Mutualism is when both organisms benefit from each other. An example of
mutualism is pollination because when a bee pollinates a flower it helps the
flower reproduce more seeds and the bee gets nectar and pollen from the flower. Two organism are usually in a symbiotic
relationship because they can’t live or survive without each other. Another
type or symbiotic that we didn’t really discuss in class is competition.
Competition is when both organisms strive for the same resources in the same
place. Competition isn’t always the same species fighting for the resource it
can be all types of different organisms. Those are the four main types of
symbiotic relationships.
